Coconut Vanilla Matcha Lattè
Oh Matcha, matcha, matcha. A vibrant high-quality shade-grown green tea leaf filled with amazing health benefits, while getting the boost of energy you're looking for in the morning or midday. To be very honest, I didn't like it at first when I tried matcha green tea powder with just water. Totally did not amuse my taste buds... So I kicked it to the curb for awhile. BUT, I tried a matcha lattè at a cafe recently and it was so smooth & delicious! Totally loved it. I found out it's super simple to whip up too after looking online. But I wanted to spike it.
No, not with alcohol.
Just wanted to give it that extra boost of the goodies ;)
Now, matcha is already bringing some hot stuff to the table of ingredients.
Because matcha is covered from direct sunlight for up to 20 days prior to harvest, there's an increase in production of L-Theanine - an amino acid that is naturally produced in the tea plants. Matcha does contain that dose of caffeine, but unlike other types of tea, you will be able to stay alert, but also receive that feeling of calmness without drowsiness. All thanks to the L-Theanine in matcha. So fear not of that roller coaster energy feeling! You're in good hands. Just go ask the Japanese Zen Buddhist monks who drank it to remain alert and calm during long hours of meditation.
They can vouch for it!
And to top it off, unlike other teas, the matcha green tea powder is not strained out before consumption. Instead of steeping a bag of tea leaves and later throwing the bag of leaves out, the ENTIRE leaf is grounded into powder and you are consuming the ENTIRE leaf itself. You get all the goods. All the antioxidant power!
Just to get an idea of that level of power we are talking about:
MATCHA ANTIOXIDANT LEVELS =
6.2 times that of Goji Berries
7 times that of Dark Chocolate
17 times that of Wild Blueberries
60.5 times that of Spinach
Oh yeah. You got that right.
Green tea level game SUPER strong!
Now let's spike this lattè with some.... coconut oil!
Why coconut oil? Well... why not???
The concentration of beneficial fats in coconut oil makes it helpful for digestion. Its antimicrobial properties can help fight irritation and infection in the gut.
Happy gut, happy life!
Plus, medium chain triglycerides (MCT) is also found in coconut oil. MCTs are helpful in preserving muscle. MCTs found in coconut are also used in popular muscle building products. So, instead of consuming processed forms of MCT, why not add the actual coconut oil and benefit from getting your MCTs in their natural and most effective form?
Right? Yes. Exactly.
And so, here's my twist on the matcha lattè. Spiked up! Get all the antioxidants, give your gut some love, and stay alert and jittery-free in that seat for that morning meeting with this delicious Coconut Vanilla Matcha Lattè.
Sip, sip, sip awayyyyyyy!
